Sunday, July 17, 2016 09:48AM

HOUSTON --

A Houston teenager suddenly fell ill and died after contracting a brain-eating amoeba. Hudson Adams, 19, played baseball at Northbrook High School for the last four years. He spent the summer working at Frontier Camp as a counselor. The camp's director, Matt Raines, spoke with our sister KTRK on Thursday. Raines said Adams had lifeguard duties last week at Lake Maverick and Houston County Lake. Raines explained Adams reported flu-like symptoms last Sunday afternoon. By Monday evening, Adams became disoriented. Paramedics rushed him to a local hospital before he was flown to the Texas Medical Center for treatment. The young man died Wednesday. At the Raiders Field Thursday, Adams' former teammates and buddies gathered for a moment of silence. They remembered their friend as someone who always wanted to lift up spirits.
